Maray Studio

Maray Studio is an independent photography studio based in the Netherlands, specialising in architecture, interiors, cultural institutions, exhibitions, and visual storytelling.

Founded as a creative collaboration between two partners in life and practice, Maray Studio brings together a shared background in urban planning and a passion for photography. Our training in urban planning shaped the way we understand space—not simply as a setting, but as a relationship between structure, movement, material, light, and human experience. This perspective continues to inform every image we create.

The studio’s approach developed further when the founder completed an MA in Media Studies: Film and Photographic Studies at Leiden University. Her research-led engagement with photography brings historical and critical awareness to our visual practice, allowing us to look beyond appearance and consider the narratives, identities, and contexts carried by each subject.

We create thoughtful and expressive imagery for architects, designers, museums, galleries, cultural organisations, and brands. Whether documenting the character of a building, translating an exhibition into a visual narrative, or developing imagery for a distinctive visual identity, we begin by understanding the purpose, atmosphere, and audience of each project.

We are drawn to visuals that feel honest, atmospheric, and deeply human. Our aim is not only to show how a subject looks, but also to communicate how it feels and what it represents.

As an independent studio, we work closely with every client—from the first conversation to the final selection of images. Each commission receives careful attention to composition, colour, light, and detail, resulting in photographs that are clear, distinctive, and enduring.
